Orthotics

Custom foot orthotics are medical graded devices which are individually prescribed for you. Foot orthoses guide the mechanics of the foot to a precise degree, which assist the muscles and tendons to work more proficiently. The orthotic sits underneath your foot inside your shoe to help improve, support and correct your foot posture.

The Feet Team regularly treats injuries and conditions as a result of abnormal foot and lower limb mechanics. Orthotics redistribute plantar pressure and forces which can have a significant impact on the feet, ankle, knee and lower back. When used correctly and in conjunction with other treatments such as strength and condition programs; orthotics will improve an individual's day to day activities and improve an athlete's performance.

Custom Orthotic Range

The three main types of orthotics available are rigid, semi-flex or soft. Whether you are a runner requiring a full length carbon fibre semi flexible orthotic or a tradesman who is heavy on their feet and requires a rigid orthotic with more support, The Feet Team will prescribe an orthotic which matches your activity and lifestyle.

The Feet Team is up to date with the available technology and uses one of the countries leading orthotic labs. Through the use of 3D scanning we are able to design a low profile, slim and comfortable orthotic made for football boots, dress shoes, runners and even high heels.

The Process

Initial Biomechanical Assessment

A full biomechanical analysis is required to assess what is causing your pain and discomfort and to determine if you are suitable for orthotics. Not everyone requires an orthotic as other treatment options may be more suitable to the individual.

Fitting

This is a key process to ensure the orthotic has a seamless fit into the desired shoe. We will provide you with care instructions for the orthotic to ensure the long lifespan. Please bring in the intended shoes the orthotic is to be fitted into.

Prescription

Through a thorough history, delving into previous injury, exercise, work and lifestyle, we will prescribe the best orthotic for your foot type and intended use. We will complete the casting process using a 3D scanner before sending the prescription to the orthotic lab.

Review

The Feet Team highly recommended we complete a four week and four month review to assess the adaptation occurring. This will allow us to make any minor adjustments or corrections to ensure it is the perfect fit.
